Using gray as one of your wedding colors

Picking your wedding colors is a big decision since so many other things will be affected by this choice - your invitations, bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen socks, napkins, flowers...the list goes on. It always helps to have a good neutral as part of your color pallet. If you have all bold colors you may find that certain accessories are overwhelming such as lime green vests for your groomsmen. Here we have put together some fun color pallets that all incorporate a shade of gray to play as the neutral color. See if any of these inspire you.

So the wedding is over...now what?

IMG_0639I don't know about you, but I went into wedding planning withdrawal shortly after the wedding festivities had ended. I didn't know what to do with all my free time - I was so used to spending hours looking at images on Pinterest, checking things off on my Knot checklist and crafting all the small details for the big day. I needed a fix and wasn't ready to let the memories of the day fade away so I went on a mission to Target and found a beautiful cloth covered banker box that happened to be in one of the wedding colors and decided to make a wedding memory box. I then wondered all over the house and picked up all things wedding related that were haphazardly strewn around asking to be lost in the shuffle - shower cards, a copy of our save the date and invitation, extra sparklers, favors from the shower and the wedding, welcome bags we gave out at the hotels, the wooden chair signs from the wedding dinner, dried flowers from my bouquet and the hub's boutonniere...the list keeps going. Once I had a nice big pile of things I carefully went through each item and placed it in the box stowing away a memory of the day. I have put the box in a safe place and can't wait to dig it out for our one year anniversary to reminisce about what a special day it was.

Save the Dates are Out!

If you have been following my blog you know that back in October I was working with my long time friend and designer, Amanda Fox, to design my save the dates. Well, they turned out even better than I imagined! The poster size announcements were carefully rolled, tied with twine and a small purple flower and then placed in a craft paper mailing tube. I was so thankful to get help from my sister and mom on this project.

Use Those Engagement Photos

So you had an amazing engagement session with your photographer and got you pictures back. You shared them on Facebook and gave a copy of your favorite one to your mother so she could send it to the local paper. Now what? Use them!! Here are some great ideas of how to use your engagement photos.

Send a holiday card or incorporate them in your save the dates.

Photo Calendars

IMG_0357 Calendars as gifts? Yes! These aren’t your typical wall calendars and are totally custom designed!

Every year a group of my close friends and I get together to have a Christmas dinner. In the past we have done secret santas or a yankee swap, but this year we decided to do a wine swap. This entailed each person brining a bottle of wine and an appetizer type food that paired well with it, so fun and tasty! So you are saying to yourself, what does this have to do with calendars? Well, I am a sucker for tradition and thought that each of my friends should be able to unwrap something small at our celebration. Two of my friends were married this year and the others all attended the fabulous wedding of Steph and Chris in New Orleans. So for Farran, one of the brides, I picked some great shots from her wedding and put together a desk calendar that she can look at each day for the next year and remember how special it was. Steph, the other bride, had a photo booth at her wedding, so I thought it would be fun to make her a calendar that featured pictures that came from the booth for each month to remind her of all the funny faces that were made behind the curtain. Finally, I used pictures from our New Orleans trip to make calendars for the rest of my lovely ladies, Kara, Chrissy, Manda, and Lauren. When I was designing these I started to think of all the other ways these could used as gifts…one year anniversary (it is paper after all), brides maids gifts, shower or wedding favors, parent thank you gifts, include with thank you notes, send as holiday cards…so many reasons to give a custom photo calendar!
